5 things to discover
Discover history on your doorstep with the ‘5 Things’ challenge!
Throughout the summer holidays 2016, the Treasure House and Sewerby Hall and Gardens are encouraging the exploration and discovery of museums.
We’ve got suggestions of ‘5 Things to Discover’, especially for younger children and families. Visit the Children and Families page to find out more.
From the first floor reception you can borrow the following items for the duration of your visit:
- Binoculars for viewing Beverley and the surrounding area from the tower.
- A general activity pack will be available soon.
In the museum gallery there are also hands-on interactive exhibits and historical costumes to try on, as well as history and archaeology books to browse.
Further along the corridor in the Art Gallery there is a further range of activities for you to use during your visit, including:
- A ‘Spot the Picture’ activity
- Two worksheets: ‘Looking at Paintings’ and ‘Looking at Sculptures’
There are also jigsaws, a drawing table and art activities relevant to the current exhibition.
The art gallery also regularly has art books to look at, and there are two print display cases for visitors to browse through, containing delicate objects such as watercolours, prints and photographs.
A programme of family-friendly workshops is run at the Treasure House throughout the year. For more information on this year’s workshops go to the Learning at the Treasure House page.
Alternatively, for an overview of the forthcoming events that are suitable for children and families at all sites visit the forthcoming events page and select 'Events Children and families' as the category.
You can also search, book and pay for events online.
