Reminiscence resources

The East Riding Museums Service has a range of resources available for individuals and groups to use in order to stimulate reminiscences.

At present these are largely in the form of 'memory boxes' that can be loaned out to support reminiscence work with the elderly or adults with learning disabilities.

The service is free; please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Who are the resources for?

Reminiscence resources are aimed at organisations such as care homes or social groups who wish to stimulate reminiscences as a form of therapy.

Memory boxes

A wide range of boxes containing handling material that can be used to stimulate memories can be borrowed from the Museums Service. A list of the available boxes can be found here.

At present the boxes are the same as those used for school handling projects, but it is possible that a separate range may be developed for reminiscence purposes in the future.

Borrowing the boxes is quite simple, visit the How to borrow a box page to find out more.

Complementary resources

In the future additional complementary resources may be made available, developed in partnership with organisations such as the Yorkshire Film Archive and the Alzheimers Society.
