For schools

Learning resources can be offered to schools in a range of ways:

  • Venues for a school visit. All the East Riding museums welcome visits from schools and other education groups. Go to the individual site pages (these are available quickly through In the Museums) for more information on what is available to support learning at each site. All visits should be booked at the site beforehand to avoid a clash with another group.

  • Activities available for use during self-directed visits to museum sites: go to teacher-led resources for more information.

  • Learning sessions for primary schools. These are currently available at the Treasure House but will be available at Sewerby Hall in the future.

  • Tours at some museum sites. These are currently available at the Treasure House and Art Gallery, Beverley Guildhall, Goole Museum and Skidby Mill, but will be available at Sewerby Hall in the future.

  • Online resources.

  • Support for teachers. The Museums Service currently has two part-time Education Officers whose role is to support learning in the museums. The Education Officers are available to discuss teachers' specific requirements, for example for continuing professional development (CPD) or to arrange a preparatory visit to the Treasure House. Go to contact us for information on how to get in touch with the Education Officers.

  • Handling boxes. A series of boxes containing handling materials is available to borrow.
