Volunteering

Several of the museums have volunteer teams that you can join. These are shown below. Visit the Volunteering page of the relevant site for more information on how to volunteer.

Volunteering at Skidby Mill

Most of the museums offer the opportunity to be involved in the research and preparation for exhibition displays, and the volunteers may be involved in hanging the displays as well.

Beverley Guildhall and Skidby Mill also offer the chance to do some front of house work in the form of room stewarding or presenting guided tours.

In addition, Beverley Guildhall also encourages the volunteers to help with cataloguing of objects in the collection and collecting oral histories by interviewing local people.

There are also currently new opportunities to volunteer as costumed interpreters with the Education Team at Sewerby Hall.

Code of practice

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has a Code of Practice relating to all volunteers across the council, a copy of which is available to be downloaded here.
